Flight Nurse | Flight Paramedic
Same job. Same pay scale.
Critical care clinicians at LifeFlight of Maine are selected from among the best EMS and nursing professionals in the country and are trained to provide the highest level of care within the common scope of practice.
Each LifeFlight team consists of two clinicians, one licensed as a paramedic and one licensed as a nurse. We ask both crew members to perform the same duties, share the same responsibilities, and as a team provide exceptional care to our patients. While their licensing and backgrounds differ, critical care nurses and paramedics at LifeFlight of Maine perform the same role and so they are compensated on the same pay scale.
Flight Paramedic
Reports To: Base Manager
Job Summary
The LifeFlight of Maine Paramedic is responsible and accountable for transporting and stabilizing critically ill or injured patients from scene calls and interfacility transports to tertiary care institutions. The LifeFlight of Maine Paramedic is required to plan and provide care based on his/her assessments of critically ill patients working under the standards and protocols approved by the medical director. Use of these standards and protocols may require implementation of critical care therapy without the presence of a physician, but with contact through telephone or radio. This includes the performance of invasive procedures, interpretation of diagnostic studies, and the administration of appropriate medications and IV fluids in accordance with established medical protocols and EMS protocols. The LifeFlight of Maine Paramedic is part of a team with the flight nurse, who together act as the patient’s advocate and liaison with pre-hospital care providers to assure air transport safety. The LifeFlight of Maine Paramedic is responsible and accountable for knowledge and care of air medical equipment, communications by radio, telephone, dispatch protocols and Maine EMS system.

Flight Nurse

EMT Vehicle Operator
Reports To: Base Manager
Work Schedule: Full-time, Part-time, or per diem
Job Summary
We’re currently hiring EMTs at each of our bases (Bangor, Lewiston, or Sanford).
Our EMTs are part of our expanding Critical Care Ground Transport Program. Under the direction of the base managers, our EMTs are responsible for safely operating LifeFlight of Maine’s Ground Critical Care Transport vehicles. This position is a core part of our team, providing comprehensive, safe, and effective medical care to patients transported by LifeFlight of Maine.

Fixed Wing Captain
Reports To: Base Lead Pilot / Chief Pilot
Location: Bangor
Work Schedule: Full-time
Job Summary
The Fixed Wing Captain is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient conduct of medevac flight assignments. The captain functions as the pilot-in-command of a two-pilot crew. The captain determines whether to accept or decline a flight assignment based on weather conditions, or other factors that may impact the safety of flight. The captain works collaboratively with the first officer, communications center, and medical crew to safely complete medevac flight operations. This position is scheduled on a revolving day/night 12-hour shift primarily based at the LifeFlight hangar in Bangor.
Rotor Wing Captain
Reports To: Base Lead Pilot / Chief Pilot
Location: Bangor
Job Summary
The Rotor Wing Captain (RWC) shall be granted full authority as the pilot-in-command responsible for the safe and efficient conduct of a flight assignment. The RWC will evaluate Visual Flight Rules (VFR) options and Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) options when applicable. The RWC will promote a Just and Accountable Culture, teamwork and strong Crew Resource Management, and work collaboratively with other members of the flight program to complete assigned and requested tasks.
Aviation Maintenance Technician
Reports To: Director of Aviation
Location: Bangor
Job Summary
An Aviation Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring program aircraft are maintained to airworthiness standards prescribed by applicable regulations, airworthiness directives, company policies, and industry best practices. This position is responsible for coordinating maintenance activities with the DOM, base aviation staff, and LFAS leadership as applicable. This person works collaboratively with other members of the team. This position has different schedule configurations including 5/2 or 7-on/7-off. After hours call requirement during days on for some positions.
Air Communications Specialist
Reports To: MedComm – New England’s Medical Access Point, LLC
Location: Bangor
Job Summary
This posting is for a LifeFlight of Maine Air Communications Specialist at MedComm – New England’s Medical Access Point, LLC in Bangor, ME. MedComm is the largest private ambulance dispatch center in Maine. This position is responsible for: receiving emergent and non-emergent transportation requests, scheduling calls and dispatching ground transport vehicles; and receiving and managing requests for air ambulance assets for LifeFlight of Maine.
